What did KDC achieve in 2025? The results at a glance.
The Knowledge and Development Centre (KDC) is a collaboration between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, LVNL, KLM, and Royal Schiphol Group. Its mission is to develop and integrate knowledge to support innovation and future‑proof aviation at Schiphol and in the Netherlands. KDC runs a multi‑year research program together with universities, research institutes, and consultancy partners.
In 2025, KDC worked on five main topics:
• RNP‑AR and Airspace Redesign
• Air–Ground Datalink Interface
• Runway Maintenance Impact Model
• Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA)
• NOMOS Noise Research
KDC also continued building knowledge through its Centre of Excellence with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and TU Delft, where twelve students graduated in 2025. Two PhD projects advanced research on noise‑model validation (Doc29) and four‑dimensional trajectory predictability.
Finally, the iLabs innovation facility grew further, supporting student research, LVNL development projects, and testing environments for airspace redesign, system prototyping, and noise‑modelling tools.
